Sichuan Panzhihua-Yanjin Expressway has started construction comprehensively, bringing a major upgrade to Panxi transportation.
On September 28th, it was learned from Shudao Group that the major project of the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the country - the Panzhihua to Yanyuan Expressway project has officially entered the substantive construction stage. The project starts from Mianya Town, Yanyuan County, Liangshan Prefecture, and ends in Taiping Township, Renhe District, Panzhihua City, with a total length of about 131.3 kilometers, including about 86.3 kilometers within Panzhihua and about 45 kilometers within Liangshan Prefecture. The entire line adopts the standard construction of a two-way four-lane expressway, with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour, a roadbed width of 25.5 meters, 67 bridges, 20 tunnels, and 10 interchange interchanges, with a bridge and tunnel ratio of about 80%. The project is located on the northeast edge of the Hengduan Mountains, with extremely complex terrain and geological conditions. The most eye-catching Gesala Tunnel is about 12 kilometers long and will become the world's highest-altitude highway tunnel with the largest height difference. In addition, the 14.5-kilometer-long Tongde Tunnel will become the world's longest single-slope highway tunnel, and the Jinsha River Grand Bridge will become the largest highway cable-stayed bridge with the largest span widening in a similar type in China. After completion, the journey from Panzhihua City to Yanyuan County will be shortened from 5 hours to about 2 hours, and it will achieve organic connections with four regional transportation arteries, namely the Xixiang Expressway, Rongli Expressway, Panda Expressway, and Jingkun Expressway, thereby helping the Panxi region to integrate into the "Great Shangri-La Ecotourism Area" and promote high-quality economic and social development along the route.
