30 ancient stone tool sites were found in Hainan 14,000 years ago.
reporters learned from the Hainan Province Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology that a joint archaeological team composed of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hainan Province Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, and Sun Yat-sen University discovered 30 new Paleolithic sites during the 2024 annual Paleolithic archaeological survey in the southern or river valley area, with at least 8 sites observing original stratigraphy. This is currently the largest number of discovered sites, with the largest individual site area, the most abundant stone artifacts and cultural connotations, and the oldest date of a Paleolithic wilderness site group in Hainan region.
