The construction of the Jiaku Mountain Tunnel in the western Sichuan Plateau has been completed.

After 45 months of arduous battles, the 9.35-kilometer-long National Road 351 tunnel through Jiajin Mountain on the western Sichuan Plateau was successfully completed on September 28 and will open for trial operation on October 1. The long-standing difficulty of winter snow blocking the mountain and preventing passage for the 110,000 people living nearby will be completely resolved. Jiajin Mountain is located at the border of Baoping County in Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, and Xiaojin County in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. With an altitude of over 4000 meters, Jiajin Mountain is covered in snow year-round and experiences unpredictable weather. The original road was winding, steep, and narrow, making it impassable for three months each winter due to ice and snow. After the tunnel opens, the time to cross Jiajin Mountain will be reduced from 1 hour to just 10 minutes.
