The Liuwu Railway, with a total of 54 tunnels along the entire line, has all been successfully connected. It is expected to be completed and open for traffic next year.
On September 28th, it was learned from China Railway Nanning Group Co., Ltd. that the new Liuzhou to Wuzhou railway Tai Ping tunnel has been successfully connected, marking the completion of all 54 tunnels on the Liuzhou-Wuzhou railway line, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent track laying construction. The main line of the Liuzhou-Wuzhou railway project is 238.17 kilometers long, with a bridge and tunnel ratio of 72.5%. It is a national first-class, double-track electrified railway for passenger and freight transportation, with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour. The line passes through cities such as Liuzhou, Laibin, Guigang, and Wuzhou, with a total of 10 stations. The Tai Ping tunnel is located in Wuxuan County, Laibin City, Guangxi. It is 4,628 meters long with a maximum burial depth of approximately 267 meters. The geological conditions of the tunnel are complex, with sections passing through karst, bedding, fault fractured zones, gentle dipping rock layers, and other unfavorable geological conditions. The soft clay, expansive soil, and other special rock and soil conditions present multiple risks such as bias pressure, water inrush, mud bursts, and collapses during construction, making it a level I risk tunnel. Construction on the Liuzhou-Wuzhou railway started in September 2022, with a total approved budget of 33.872 billion yuan and a construction period of 4 years. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic next year. As of the end of September this year, construction on the Liuzhou-Wuzhou railway project has been progressing orderly, with an overall completion rate of 96.50% for bridge and culvert works, and 91.50% for earthwork. Station building works have entered the interior decoration stage, and the "four-electric" works behind the stations are progressing in an orderly manner according to plan. The Liuzhou-Wuzhou railway is an important component of the Liuzhou-Guangzhou railway and an important conventional railway corridor connecting the southwestern region to the Pearl River Delta in the national "Medium and Long-Term Railway Network Plan." Once completed, it will significantly enhance the transportation connectivity between Guangxi and the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, playing an important role in improving the comprehensive regional transportation system and promoting high-quality economic and social development along the route.
