On September 27th, local time, Gabon held legislative and local elections, with over 900,000 voters heading to polling stations to participate in the voting. It is reported that about 1600 candidates will compete for 145 parliamentary seats, and the elected MPs will be responsible for electing mayors, provincial council chairs, and senators. Over 20 political parties participated in the elections, including the ruling "Democratic Party of Builders" led by Gabon's President Ali Bongo, and the "Gabonese Democratic Party" founded by former president Omar Bongo. The Gabonese Ministry of the Interior stated that every effort has been made to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections, with international observers currently supervising the process.
