The Southern African Development Community issued a statement on the 27th expressing serious concern about the violent protests that took place in Madagascar's capital, Antananarivo, and other areas on the 25th. The statement also expressed firm support for the government and people of Madagascar. The statement mentioned that the demonstrations on the 25th resulted in casualties and significant damage to public and private property, leading to a curfew in Antananarivo, which is regrettable. This goes against the principles of peace, unity, and sustainable development that the SADC advocates for.
