Former Brazilian president Bolsonaro punished for racist remarks.
The Federal District Court of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil ruled on the 16th that former President Bolsonaro was sentenced to pay a collective spiritual damage compensation of 1 million reais for making racist remarks during his term in office. The court found that Bolsonaro, while serving as president in 2021, made racist remarks about a Black person's hairstyle, which goes against the basic values of Brazilian society, infringes on the public interest, and constitutes collective spiritual harm. In addition to compensation, the court also ordered Bolsonaro to remove the racist videos he posted on social media and to publicly apologize through the media and social platforms.
