The Macao SAR government seeks the opinions of organizations on improving the cash handout arrangements.
The Macao Special Administrative Region Government held two meetings on May 15 and 16 to solicit opinions from community organizations on improving the conditions and methods of distributing the "cash sharing plan". The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lei Wai Nong, and the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ao Ieong U, respectively chaired the two meetings. Community representatives put forward several constructive suggestions, including the need to reconsider the purpose and nature of distributing cash sharing, and to consider using other different distribution methods and combinations, such as consumer cards or vouchers; studying the introduction of a condition that recipients must have stayed in Macao for 183 days, but taking into consideration reasonable exceptions for those who work, study, retire, etc. in mainland China.
