The second meeting of the China-EU Financial Working Group was held in Brussels, Belgium on May 13th and 14th, 2025. The meeting focused on topics such as global economic uncertainty, macroeconomic situations and financial stability in China and the EU, banking and insurance regulation, pension funds, and leasing company development. There was in-depth discussion on sustainable finance, cross-border data flows, and cross-border payment system construction, among other emerging areas of cooperation. Both sides highly praised the positive achievements made since the establishment of the China-EU Financial Working Group, agreeing that the mechanism is an important channel for China-EU financial policy communication, a key platform for solving practical problems, and a professional forum for discussing global economic and financial issues. Both sides will continue to deepen cooperation in key areas, promote more substantive results, and promptly report cooperation achievements to the China-EU economic and trade dialogue and the leaders of both sides. As a supporting event of the China-EU Financial Working Group, the China-EU Financial Institution Roundtable was held concurrently. Financial regulators from China and the EU carefully listened to professional suggestions from financial institutions on topics such as financial digitization transformation and financial technology innovation, and conducted extensive communication on specific demands such as market access optimization and business innovation promotion. All participants agreed to establish a regular exchange mechanism to jointly promote the development of China-EU financial cooperation in wider and deeper fields.
