The news states that Tesla is asking workers on the production line at the Austin factory to take a week off at the end of this month.
According to Tesla employees, the company has notified workers on the Model Y and Cybertruck production lines at the Austin factory to stay at home during the week of Memorial Day in the United States. Workers say that this break is unusually long, as the production lines were operating normally during the same period last year. Workers also mention that since February of this year, their schedules have become increasingly inconsistent. Some say they have been asked to leave early multiple times. Workers also mention that in February of this year, the Austin factory started reducing overtime hours. The management informed them that if they worked overtime, they may eventually face disciplinary action. Last month, there were reports that Tesla has lowered the production targets for the Cybertruck and has reassigned some workers from the production line.
