The largest freshwater lake in the North China Plain, Baiyangdian, has accumulated an inflow of over 8.2 billion cubic meters since 2018.
On the 10th, the Xiong'an New Area announced that since 2018, the cumulative inflow of water into Baiyangdian has exceeded 8.2 billion cubic meters, and the water level in the Baiyangdian area has been maintained at around 7 meters. In the current year, the inflow of water into Baiyangdian has exceeded 400 million cubic meters, ensuring the ecological water quantity. Since the establishment of the Xiong'an New Area, Baiyangdian has witnessed the largest systematic ecological governance in history. Since 2021, the water quality in the Baiyangdian area has been maintained at Class III for 4 consecutive years, the water ecological environment quality has significantly improved, the level of biodiversity has increased significantly, with the number of wild bird species and fish species reaching 295 and 48 respectively, an increase of 89 and 21 species compared to before the establishment of the new area.
