Reminder to Chinese citizens in Sri Lanka to stay away from gambling: Recently, our embassy has received reports from Chinese citizens who have suffered major financial losses due to gambling. The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka once again reminds Chinese citizens in Sri Lanka to enhance their legal awareness and stay away from gambling. Gambling is strictly prohibited by our laws, and cross-border gambling is now a criminal offense. Even if there are legal casinos overseas, Chinese citizens who engage in cross-border gambling may still be in violation of our laws, especially if they are involved in organizing gambling activities, and will be held responsible according to the law. Consular protection will not be available for those who engage in illegal activities. Chinese citizens are advised to recognize the illegality and harm of cross-border gambling, keep themselves clean, and stay away from gambling. They are also reminded to carefully distinguish high-paying job recruitment information in Sri Lanka in order to avoid falling into gambling or fraud traps and being forced to engage in illegal activities.
