The first undergraduate major in elderly care for frontline caregivers in Shanghai has started, with an initial enrollment of 324 students.
On September 28th, Shanghai Open University and Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau co-hosted the opening ceremony for the new students of the "Elderly Care Service Management" major. As the first undergraduate major in Shanghai aimed at frontline elderly care workers, this year's first intake enrolled 324 new students. 19.5% of the students already have a bachelor's degree or higher, including three who are master's students. It is understood that Shanghai Open University's "Elderly Care Service Management" major is the first undergraduate major in the city specifically designed for frontline elderly care workers.
