The State Council Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism for Epidemic Prevention and Control recently issued the "Notice on Doing a Good Job in the Prevention and Control of Key Infectious Diseases including Novel Coronavirus Infection around the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival in 2025, and Autumn and Winter Season". The notice fully deploys the key infectious disease prevention and control work in the near future and the next phase to ensure the health and safety of the people during the holidays. The notice pointed out that the current situation of infectious diseases in China is generally stable, but in the autumn and winter seasons, the activity of various pathogens such as the novel coronavirus, influenza virus, and respiratory syncytial virus is gradually increasing, and there will be a trend of alternating or co-epidemic of various respiratory infectious diseases. From October to November, some provinces in the south are still in the season of mosquito-borne infectious diseases. At the same time, gastrointestinal infectious diseases such as norovirus gastroenteritis are also in their peak season. In addition, the increase in population mobility and gathering around the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival increases the risk of epidemic spread and the difficulty of prevention and control. The person in charge of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Department of the National Health Commission stated that overall, on the basis of the continued implementation of various prevention and control measures, the overall situation of the national epidemic will remain stable and controllable before and after the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival and during the autumn and winter seasons. The notice puts forward specific requirements in seven major aspects, including accelerating the establishment and actual operation of provincial coordination regional infectious disease monitoring and early warning and emergency command information platforms; implementing health quarantine at ports in accordance with the law, and strengthening guidance and supervision of key places such as schools, childcare institutions, nursing homes, cultural and tourism venues, etc.; encouraging key populations to actively vaccinate, dynamically coordinating and allocating medical resources; in areas with major infectious disease outbreaks, strict implementation of all prevention and control measures to control the epidemic as soon as possible; improving emergency plans, highlighting "real-play practice", enhancing emergency response and health epidemic prevention capabilities; carrying out patriotic health campaigns and health education in depth, timely releasing information, and providing holiday travel health tips. The notice also emphasizes that local governments should conscientiously implement relevant requirements based on their actual conditions to ensure that prevention and control work is not relaxed and continues uninterrupted, creating a good environment for economic and social development.
