Report: The United States is devising a plan to target drug trafficking objectives within Venezuela.

According to four informed sources, the United States is developing a plan to potentially target drug targets inside Venezuela. The report revealed that two of the sources are U.S. officials, and suggested that the strikes may involve drone attacks on drug traffickers and drug labs, with the operation possibly taking place in the coming weeks. The report also added that U.S. President Donald Trump has not approved any plans yet. This plan may signify an escalation of the situation, as in recent weeks U.S. military strikes destroyed at least three small boats near the Venezuelan coast, with all personnel on board possibly dead. Trump argued that these boats were transporting drugs to the United States, but critics have condemned the attacks as illegal misuse of power, akin to extrajudicial killings. The U.S. military refused to comment, while the White House reiterated its position that Venezuela's alleged smuggling of drug traffickers and drugs to the U.S. is "unacceptable."
