Recently, our country officially announced its national determined contributions for 2035, covering the entire economy including all greenhouse gases at the United Nations Climate Change Summit. Experts say that this marks the beginning of a new journey for China in addressing climate change and will make a positive contribution to the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement. 2035 is a key milestone for our country as we move towards carbon neutrality after reaching peak carbon emissions. The new national determined contributions include reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by 7% to 10% compared to the peak by 2035, with a focus on doing even better. The proportion of non-fossil energy consumption in total energy consumption will reach over 30%, and the total installed capacity of wind and solar power will be at least six times that of 2020, aiming to reach 36 billion kilowatts. The forest stock volume will exceed 240 billion cubic meters, and new energy vehicles will become the mainstream of new vehicle sales. The national carbon emissions trading market will cover major high-emission industries, and a climate-resilient society will be basically established. Experts say that this is the first time China has proposed a comprehensive set of climate change goals after reaching peak carbon emissions, with a transition from relative reduction targets to absolute reduction targets. This systematically constructs an action plan covering multiple dimensions such as energy and industrial transformation, and policy innovation.
