In order to implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Australia and Singapore, from September 21st to 26th, Meng Yang, Deputy Director of the State Administration for Market Regulation, was invited to lead a delegation to visit Australia and Singapore. The purpose of the visit was to implement cooperation agreements signed with the competition law enforcement agencies of the two countries, promote mutual beneficial cooperation in the competition field, create a fair competition market environment for bilateral economic and trade exchanges, and deepen economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia as well as China and Singapore. During the visit, the delegation held talks with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on topics such as the latest progress in antitrust legislation and enforcement, antitrust enforcement procedures, and merger review. The delegation also held talks with the Singapore Competition and Consumer Commission on topics such as the establishment of antitrust enforcement agencies, key areas of antitrust supervision and enforcement, and best practices in market investigations. The delegation also held a symposium for Chinese enterprises and conducted field research on the overseas operation and competition compliance of certain Chinese enterprises, as well as exchanged views with experts in competition law in Australia.
