BYD releases a patent for preventing and controlling thermal runaway, which can reduce or even avoid the risk of combustion.

According to the Tianyancha App, on September 26th, the patent for "Thermal Runaway Prevention and Control Device, Battery Pack and Electrical Equipment" applied by BYD Company Limited was published. The abstract shows that the thermal runaway prevention and control device is suitable for installation inside the casing of the battery pack, including a casing and a gas generation component. The casing has a containment chamber and a first communication hole communicating with the containment chamber; the gas generation component is placed inside the containment chamber, designed to be triggered under preset conditions to form inert gas in the battery pack. The inert gas enters the casing of the battery pack through the first communication hole to dilute and/or inhibit the thermal runaway products inside the casing. This application can reduce or even avoid the risk of thermal runaway products exploding, thereby improving the safety performance of the battery pack.
