Peter Mutharika wins Malawi presidential election.

The Malawi Electoral Commission announced on the evening of the 24th that former Malawi President and leader of the Democratic Progressive Party, Peter Mutharika, won the presidential election. Earlier in the day, the current president of Malawi and leader of the Malawi Congress Party, Chakwera, gave a televised speech admitting defeat. Malawi is located in the southeastern part of Africa, with an area of less than 120,000 square kilometers, and is one of the least developed countries in the world. The Malawi general election is held every five years.
