Brazilian President Lula: Brazil's democracy and sovereignty are not negotiable.
On September 23rd, local time, Brazilian President Lula delivered a speech at the 80th United Nations General Assembly General Debate. He stated that the verdict of the Brazilian judiciary on the attempted coup case involving former President Bolsonaro serves as a warning to all candidates with authoritarian tendencies and their supporters, and that Brazil's democracy and sovereignty are not negotiable. Those fake patriots plotted and openly incited actions against Brazil. National stability cannot be achieved at the expense of judicial fairness. Just a few days ago, for the first time in Brazil's 525-year history, a former head of state was convicted for undermining democracy and the rule of law. Through a comprehensive investigation, prosecution, and trial, this former leader ultimately faced legal consequences for his actions. This sends a message to the world: we make it clear to all candidates with authoritarian tendencies and their supporters that Brazil's democracy and sovereignty are not negotiable. Brazil will continue to exist as an independent and sovereign country, and we will not accept any form of interference.
