The city of Beijing released the first public welfare medical insurance for rare diseases in newborns on the 24th, providing health security to the public in the form of charity insurance. This was learned at the fourth working meeting of the Beijing Rare Disease Drug Guarantee Pilot Zone Joint Mechanism held on the same day by the Beijing Drug Administration, the Municipal Health Commission, the Municipal Medical Insurance Bureau, and the Beijing Customs. The public welfare insurance for rare disease clinical urgently needed drugs, approved in the Tianzhu pilot zone, was developed by the Capital Airport Economic Zone Management Committee, PICC Beijing Branch, and Beijing Life Insurance Company. The initial insurance drug list includes 14 overseas special drugs and 8 domestic special drugs. Each eligible pregnant woman can receive 2 insurance products, achieving "one list, double protection." (Xinhua News Agency)
