State Council Taiwan Affairs Office: Urges European side not to send wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.
On September 24, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked: According to reports, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities' responsible person for foreign affairs, Joseph Wu, recently visited Europe and promoted the fallacious theory of "Taiwan independence." What is your comment on this? In response, spokesperson Chen Binhua stated that Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory and the Taiwan issue is a core interest of China. We firmly oppose any form of official exchanges between our diplomatic allies and Taiwan, and strongly oppose any country providing a political stage for separatist forces. We urge the European side to adhere to the One China principle, handle the Taiwan issue carefully and properly, and not send wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" forces. We warn the DPP authorities that no matter how they conspire with external forces, or attempt any form of "diplomatic breakthroughs" to serve the purpose of "Taiwan independence," it is all in vain. It will not change the fact that Taiwan is a part of China, nor shake the universal consensus of the international community in adhering to the One China principle.
