The Yining to Aksu Railway is under construction.

On September 20th, the construction of the first phase of the Yining to Aksu railway project officially started. The Yining-Aksu railway has a total length of 794 kilometers, with 455 kilometers of newly built lines and 339 kilometers of existing lines. The project is designed for a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour, and will be a single-track, electrified railway for both passenger and freight transportation. The total investment is approximately 37.7 billion yuan, with a planned construction period of 6.5 years. Once completed, the transportation distance between Southern and Northern Xinjiang will be reduced from 1600 kilometers to 800 kilometers, and the travel time will be halved from 16 hours to 8 hours, creating a direct and efficient transportation corridor between Southern and Northern Xinjiang.
