Our researchers used the "Huairou-1" satellite to observe the data of a special gamma-ray burst and found that the possible driving force behind this gamma-ray burst was a newly born magnetar with a rotation period of only 1.1 milliseconds. This is the first time that a stable millisecond-level pulsation signal has been observed in a gamma-ray burst, providing crucial evidence for understanding the nature of compact celestial bodies and their merger products. This research was completed in collaboration with Nanjing University, the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the University of Hong Kong, and the relevant paper was published in the international academic journal "Nature Astronomy" on September 19th.
