Research shows that new artificial intelligence tools can be used to predict the long-term risk of diseases.
An international team recently published a paper in the British journal "Nature", stating that they have developed a new artificial intelligence tool that can be used to predict a person's risk of developing various diseases in the next 20 years. This is helpful for doctors to identify high-risk groups and take preventive measures early. Researchers from the German Cancer Research Center and other institutions designed this artificial intelligence tool called Delphi-2M, using health data from 400,000 people in the UK Biobank for training. It can predict the likelihood of a person developing various diseases over the next 20 years based on their medical history, as well as factors such as age, gender, body mass index, and health habits such as smoking and drinking. It can predict over a thousand types of diseases. However, researchers also stated that there are limitations to this artificial intelligence tool, such as the narrow range of data sources used for training. They plan to further train it with data from more countries to expand its applicability.
