Australia's second largest telecommunications operator, Optus Communications Company, recently experienced a 13-hour communication network failure, leading to a temporary interruption of emergency call services and resulting in the deaths of 4 people. According to reports from Agence France-Presse and Reuters on the 20th, the failure began in the early hours of the 18th and affected areas including South Australia, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory. Police in South Australia and Western Australia confirmed that an 8-week-old baby boy, a 68-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 74-year-old man died because they were unable to make emergency calls to get help.
