Discovery of New Mechanisms of Onset of Type 1 Diabetes

On the 18th, it was learned from the Xiangya Second Hospital of Central South University that a team led by Professor Zhou Zhiguang at the hospital has completed a new study that systematically reveals the key role of a new subtype of B lymphocytes in the human immune system - CD226+ B cells in the onset of type 1 diabetes. In addition, the study also proposed a new immune intervention strategy targeting the "monocyte/macrophage-IL-15-CD226+ B cell axis", providing a new direction for the early diagnosis and treatment of type 1 diabetes. The related findings were recently published online in the international journal "The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology".
