The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and two other departments have issued a work plan for stabilizing the growth of the light industry, in order to help the industry continue to recover and improve.
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with the Ministry of Commerce and the State Administration for Market Regulation, jointly issued the "Light Industry Stability and Growth Plan" to promote the greater role of the light industry in maintaining stable economic growth. The "Plan" sets out the overall goals for 2025-2026, including stabilizing the scale of key industries, maintaining the basic stability of enterprise operational efficiency, rapidly developing new growth points, and leading the continuous improvement of consumer purchasing power. It also deploys five key tasks.
First, it focuses on optimizing the supply. This includes carrying out actions to enhance the adaptability of consumer goods supply and demand, actions to improve the quality of key consumer goods, and strengthening brand cultivation and promotion. Second, it aims to help expand consumption by implementing existing policies such as trade-in programs, promoting the expansion of traditional consumption, and creating new growth engines around hot consumption areas like health, elderly care, childcare, home furnishings, and cultural tourism. It also involves expanding the application of artificial intelligence in the light industry, accelerating the promotion of new formats and models, building platforms for supply and demand exchange and communication, and stimulating consumption potential.
Third, it focuses on maintaining international competitive advantages by supporting leading enterprises in accelerating the globalization of their brands, actively developing new foreign trade models such as cross-border e-commerce, strengthening public services for the export of enterprise products, and guiding enterprises to layout their operations globally.
Fourth, it aims to optimize the industrial ecosystem by nurturing leading eco-friendly enterprises, promoting the coordinated development of industrial chains, and promoting rational industrial layout through activities such as industrial transfer connections, and strengthening the cultivation of market entities.
Fifth, it aims to strengthen the momentum for high-quality development by promoting the digital transformation of the light industry, continuously enhancing the supply capacity of green products, and creating a green, low-carbon supply chain.
