Chongqing: Guiding financial institutions to reasonably reduce interest rates on commercial personal housing loans and support improvement in housing consumption.

The General Office of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government issued the "Several Measures to Boost Consumer Spending in Chongqing", proposing to promote the healthy development of housing consumption. It aims to seek funding support through multiple channels for the construction of affordable housing and rental housing, and to continue to promote the transformation of urban villages and dilapidated houses in urban and rural areas. It will increase support for renting or purchasing housing, adding elevators to old residential buildings in urban areas, and withdrawing housing provident fund support. It will guide financial institutions to reasonably reduce interest rates on commercial personal housing loans, optimize the method of determining the number of personal housing units, and support improvement-oriented housing consumption. From May 30, 2025 to December 31, 2025, for newly purchased commercial housing in the central urban area of our city, and for selling existing housing in the central urban area within one year, a subsidy of 1% of the total housing payment for the newly purchased house will be given; for newly purchased commercial housing single building area of 140 square meters or more in the central urban area of our city, a subsidy of 0.5% of the total housing payment will be given.
