Pakistani official: Chinese company's investment in building hydropower stations has made a huge contribution to Pakistan's clean energy development.

"The Sukhi Kinari Hydropower Station, constructed by Chinese companies, has made a huge contribution to the clean energy development of Pakistan and is a milestone in energy cooperation between China and Pakistan," said Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives of Pakistan. The commercial operation ceremony of the Sukhi Kinari Hydropower Station, invested, constructed, and operated by China Energy Construction Group, was held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on the 15th anniversary of its operation. Iqbal praised the achievements of the Sukhi Kinari Hydropower Station in the past year in his speech. He stated that as a key project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the hydropower station has been continuously supplying clean energy to Pakistan, alleviating the country's long-standing power shortage problem and playing a key role in optimizing Pakistan's energy structure, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources, and strengthening national energy security. The Pakistani government will continue to fully support the development of the hydropower station, strengthen security measures, and promote deeper and higher-level practical cooperation with China."
