On September 14, 2025, local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Lothar, Chairman of the Slovenian National Commission, and representatives of various sessions of the Slovenian National Commission in Ljubljana. Wang Yi introduced the development path and ideas of China, stating that history tells us that the most important thing for a country's development is to find a path that suits its own national conditions. China has found a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics that combines the basic principles of Marxism with the specific realities of China and the excellent traditional Chinese culture. This path is deeply rooted in the people, keeps pace with the times, and has received firm support from the Chinese people. It is a successful path of peace, development, openness, and win-win cooperation, and we will continue to follow this path unwaveringly. China is committed to expanding high-level opening up, promoting green, low-carbon, and sustainable development, achieving Chinese-style modernization, respecting, tolerating, and cooperating with each other in international relations, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. China's continued development will provide opportunities for countries around the world, including Slovenia. Wang Yi stated that the relationship between countries is based on exchanges, friendships, and trust among the people. The Slovenian National Commission plays an important role in promoting friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Slovenian people, enhancing mutual understanding, and China appreciates this. China's diplomatic tradition is that all countries are equal regardless of size. We see Slovenia as a partner and friend, and are willing to continuously expand pragmatic cooperation with Slovenia, strengthen multilateral cooperation, uphold the international system centered on the United Nations, and play a constructive role in the political settlement of international disputes. None of the problems Europe is facing currently are caused by China. China and Europe should be partners, not opponents, and their relationship should move forward rather than backward. It is hoped that Slovenia will steadfastly support the One China principle and play an active role in promoting the healthy and stable development of China-Europe relations. Lothar highly appreciated the achievements of China's modernization and stated that the friendly relations between Slovenia and China are based on mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. The bilateral relationship, especially economic and trade cooperation, has developed rapidly, and exchanges in various fields such as legislatures have been fruitful, contributing to the development and enhancement of friendship between the two countries. The Slovenian National Commission is willing to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning with Chinese legislative bodies, and play a greater role in promoting cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture, technology, education, and sports. I look forward to leading a delegation to attend the upcoming China International Import Expo. Slovenia welcomes and supports President Xi Jinping's proposals for global governance and is willing to work hand in hand with China to promote world peace and development.
