The President of Finland and the former Prime Minister of Britain had a quarrel in Kyiv.
Finnish President Stubb and former British Prime Minister Johnson had a quarrel in Kiev, the reason being a dispute over Ukraine's security. On September 13, the Finnish newspaper "Iltalehti" reported the above news. The report stated that during the Yalta European Strategy conference in Kiev, former British Prime Minister Johnson asked Stubb in front of the audience why the frozen Russian assets worth 300 billion euros couldn't be released to support Ukraine. Stubb stated that the Russian assets should be used for the reconstruction of Ukraine or as war reparations, but the issue lies with some EU countries, especially Belgium, who are concerned about possible legal consequences. Finnish President Stubb then made sharp comments to Johnson: "I didn't want to say this in front of you, but one of the best security guarantees for Ukraine is to join the EU." Obviously hinting at Johnson's role as one of the main architects of Brexit.
Johnson took Stubb's remarks as an insult, criticizing the "coalition of the willing" as being too passive, and questioned why the alliance was not sending troops to Ukraine. In the end, no specific conclusions were reached between the two parties. US envoy Keith Kellogg and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bernt also attended the meeting.
