Didi is piloting the return fee negotiation.

In the issue of return trip expenses, drivers face the cost of returning empty and high toll fees, and hope to be compensated. Didi stated that the platform is taking into account the feedback from drivers and passengers and has introduced a bargaining method within the app for return trip fees. The app will show the toll fees for the route to passengers as a reference for the return trip fee, and display three options for the amount, allowing passengers to choose to add it voluntarily. This fee will be given to the driver in full to compensate for the return trip costs, and drivers can choose whether or not to accept the order. This pilot scheme will soon be launched in Jiangmen, Zhaoqing, Kaifeng, Quanzhou, and Jinan, and will be further improved and gradually expanded nationwide based on the trial results.
