Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po stated that the Chief Executive proposed in last year's Policy Address to establish a commodities trading ecosystem. In January of this year, Hong Kong was approved as a delivery point within the global warehouse network of the London Metal Exchange, bringing storage facilities closer to mainland industrial and consumption centers. He described the progress as good, with 7 warehouses already obtaining approval. The first warehouses are expected to start operation as early as July. The government will continue to promote policies to support this development, including submitting a draft bill to the Legislative Council as soon as possible to provide tax incentives for eligible commodity trading activities.
