Epic Games' "Fortnite" returns to the US Apple App Store after nearly 5 years.
Epic Games' popular multiplayer shooting game "Fortnite" reappeared in the Apple App Store in the United States starting on Tuesday, ending nearly a five-year ban, marking a major victory for the video game company. The US studio Epic Games, supported by Tencent, has been in legal battles with Apple since 2020. Epic Games claims that the iPhone maker's practice of charging up to 30% commission for in-app payments violates antitrust laws in the United States. Before "Fortnite" returned to the Apple iOS system in the United States, a US federal judge ruled on April 30 that Apple had violated a court order requiring the company to allow more competition in app downloads and payment methods on its App Store. The ruling also stated that Apple had failed to comply with a previous injunction by the judge and would be referred to the federal prosecutor for investigation for contempt of court.
