Guangdong regulations stipulate that schools cannot force students to purchase school uniforms. School uniform luxury and extravagance must be strictly prohibited.

Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Provincial Department of Finance, and the Provincial Market Supervision Administration jointly issued the "Guiding Opinions on Strengthening the Management of School Uniforms for Primary and Secondary Students", clearly stating to prevent corruption in the procurement of school uniforms, and not to force students and parents to purchase school uniforms or bundle sales in any way. In principle, non-urban primary and secondary schools should not require students to wear uniforms or purchase school uniforms. The "Opinions" will take effect on July 1, 2025, and will be valid for 5 years.
