As a retail giant and the largest grocery retailer in the United States, Walmart is often seen as a barometer for measuring the health of retailers and American consumers. According to CNBC, more and more American companies are raising prices on their goods due to tariffs, and Walmart has joined the trend. Earlier this month, Microsoft announced that it had raised the suggested retail price of Xbox consoles and some controllers. A report from the U.S. consulting firm Telsey Advisory Group showed that from April 16 to April 30, prices of some Barbie dolls sold in the U.S. increased by 43%, while prices of some Whirlpool washing machines also rose by around $80 during this period. The report also mentioned that products not currently affected by tariffs will soon face price hikes as well, as "retailers and manufacturers both believe that higher costs will be passed on to consumers."
