On May 15th, ST Pava stated at the 2024 annual performance briefing for the battery industry on the Science and Technology Innovation Board that, with the landing and scaling up of terminal applications such as energy storage, small power, and engineering machinery, the cost of sodium batteries continues to decrease. According to information from downstream customers, the unit watt-hour cost of the layered oxide route has gradually approached that of lithium iron phosphate. At the same time, there is still room for further cost reduction in materials and processes, and sodium batteries have cost advantages in some application areas. It is expected that this year, the cell cost of sodium batteries will partially overlap with that of lithium iron phosphate batteries, and will basically be on par next year. In the future, cost advantages are expected to gradually become more prominent.
