On May 14, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Mexican Foreign Minister de la Fuente in Beijing. Wang Yi stated that China and Mexico have similar historical experiences, shared development goals, and are both important global southern members. China has always supported the process of Latin American integration, supports Latin American and Caribbean countries in self-strengthening together, and appreciates the important role played by Mexico in deepening overall cooperation between China and Latin America. China is willing to strengthen unity and cooperation with Mexico within the multilateral framework, work together to defend their legitimate rights and interests, adhere to multilateralism, resist unilateral actions, uphold free trade rules, advocate for a more equal and orderly world multipolarization and inclusive economic globalization. Wang Yi emphasized that China places great importance on its relations with Mexico within its diplomacy towards Latin America, and is willing to consolidate strategic mutual trust with Mexico based on important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, share experiences and opportunities for modernization and vast market opportunities in China, deepen cooperation in various fields, and accelerate mutual development and revitalization. China welcomes more high-quality Mexican products to enter the Chinese market, encourages Chinese companies to invest and operate in Mexico, and believes that Mexico will provide a friendly and stable business environment. As two ancient civilizations with deep roots, China and Mexico should enhance cultural exchanges and further facilitate people-to-people exchanges.
