On May 14th, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked: Recently, Lai Ching-te accepted an exclusive interview with the "Nikkei Asian Review" and stated that the mainland is using the free trade system to dump low-priced goods globally and advocating the establishment of a global semiconductor "non-red supply chain", and expressed willingness to communicate and cooperate with the mainland on the basis of equal dignity, seeking peaceful and prosperous development across the strait, but also stated that the resumption of the "military trial system" is an expression of determination in response to mainland's united front infiltration and subversion. What is your comment on this? The spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Binhua, stated that the mainland has long practiced the concept of free trade, adhering to and implementing the rules of the World Trade Organization, making important contributions to maintain the stability and smooth operation of the global multilateral trade system and supply chain. The Lai Ching-te authorities on one hand have no bottom line in "selling Taiwan to flatter the United States", imposing high tariffs on the United States "slap left face and then give right face"; on the other hand, they advocate for a "non-red supply chain" trying to decouple and break the economic ties across the strait and lead the economy with ideology, completely exposing their nature of kneeling and flattering the United States. Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory. As long as we adhere to the "1992 consensus" and recognize that both sides of the strait belong to one China, dialogue and consultations between the two sides can be conducted. The so-called "equal dignity" by the Lai Ching-te authorities is an attempt to change the historical and legal fact that both sides belong to one China and to achieve cross-strait dialogue and exchanges based on the "two-state theory", their conspiracy will never succeed. The historical trend of China's unification is unstoppable. Our will to resolve the Taiwan issue and achieve national reunification is as firm as a rock and our ability is unbreakable. Advocating for "Taiwan independence" only leads to a dead end. All tricks that go against the overall interests of the nation are destined to fail.
