The United States plans to export hundreds of thousands of chips to AI companies in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
According to The Paper news, US President Trump will visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE from May 13 to 16. Xinhua News Agency reported that US officials said recently that Trump's visit will discuss investment and economic cooperation with the Gulf countries, and is expected to announce multiple agreements. The related agreements will involve defense, aviation, energy, and artificial intelligence fields.
Just before Trump's departure, sources revealed that the US government is considering a deal to provide hundreds of thousands of American-designed artificial intelligence chips to the UAE's AI company G42. Informed sources told US media that the Trump administration has agreed to directly negotiate artificial intelligence chip deals with Middle Eastern officials to strengthen ties with the region. White House Artificial Intelligence and Cryptocurrency Affairs head David Sachs is in negotiations with G42 and UAE officials to push for an agreement that allows the company to acquire US chips under limited oversight, some of which will be used for G42's collaboration project with US company OpenAI, while the rest will be provided directly to G42.
