The newly revised Marriage Registration Regulations will be implemented from May 10th. The geographical restrictions for marriage registration will be lifted, and new couples no longer need to provide household registration book. Marriage registration can now be processed nationwide. The "national processing" policy for marriage registration is officially implemented to facilitate cross-regional marriage registration, making it more convenient for people working in non-registered areas. In the seventh national population census, China's floating population reached 376 million, including 125 million inter-provincial migrants and 251 million intra-provincial migrants. In terms of cities, the proportion of floating population is relatively high in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Xiamen, and other cities. On the first day of the new policy implementation, marriage registration appointments were in high demand in many places, marking the first peak in registration for couples from different domiciles. On May 10th, Beijing processed over 1,400 marriages, with 31.9% of them being nationwide processed; on the same day, 17 marriage registration offices in Shanghai processed 1,673 marriages, with 462 of them being nationwide processed, benefiting individuals from 29 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government; in Shenzhen, a total of 439 marriages were registered on the 10th, with 149 of them being between couples without Shenzhen household registration.
