On May 10, 2025, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, had a phone conversation with Indian National Security Advisor Dovar.
Dovar expressed that the Pulwama terrorist attack caused serious casualties among Indian personnel, and India needs to take counter-terrorism actions. War is not India's choice, and it is not in the interest of either party. Both India and Pakistan will work towards a ceasefire and hope to restore regional peace and stability as soon as possible.
Wang Yi condemned the Pulwama terrorist attack and opposed all forms of terrorism. The current international situation is complex and Asia's peace and stability should be cherished. India and Pakistan are China's neighbors. China appreciates India's statement that war is not India's choice and sincerely hopes that both India and Pakistan will maintain calm and restraint, resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation, and avoid escalation. China supports and hopes for a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire between India and Pakistan through negotiations. This is in the fundamental interests of both countries and a shared desire of the international community.
