China's first domestically produced variable-speed pumped storage unit rotor hoisted into place.

It was learned from China Southern Power Grid that today, the rotor of the variable-speed unit of the Guangdong Zhaoqing Langjiang Pumped Storage Project was successfully hoisted, marking the completion of the main installation of China's first domestically produced variable-speed pumped storage unit. At the project construction site, the variable-speed unit rotor, nearly 5.2 meters high and weighing 445 tons, was steadily lifted and precisely positioned for installation. The localization rate of this variable-speed pumped storage unit has reached 100%. It can flexibly adjust its rotational speed according to the needs of the power grid, which is more conducive to the efficient and flexible consumption of new energy. According to calculations, the unit can convert the electricity generated by new energy into 280,000 cubic meters of water energy per hour for storage, and then generate electricity steadily when the power grid needs it.
