Bill Gates once again called for a robot tax during an interview program broadcast on Tuesday local time, in order to provide protection for workers displaced by artificial intelligence. "You can define a 'labor unit' and stipulate thatwhether the work is done by a human or a robotthe same FICA tax as for human workers must be paid," Gates said. FICA tax refers to the payroll tax in the United States. Gates said that taxing robots that replace human workers can both provide citizens with economic security and ensure that the government continues to receive tax revenue.
