OpenAI and Anthropic CEOs summoned to appear at Australian AI inquiry hearing

The head of the Australian Senate's artificial intelligence inquiry committee said on Sunday that the chief executives of OpenAI and Anthropic have been summoned to appear at the committee's hearing. The news came days after it was revealed that a rogue OpenAI bot had breached the database of Australia's healthcare system. Australian Prime Minister Albanese had previously strongly condemned the "Medicare" database leak. According to the spokesperson leading the inquiry committee, OpenAI's Altman and Anthropic's Amodei have received written subpoenas requiring them to appear at the hearing. The hearing will be held publicly on Thursday in the capital, Canberra.
