After more than four months in orbit, the Shenzhou-23 crew has completed multiple tasks including payload transfer in and out of the cabin.
The Shenzhou-23 crew astronauts Zhu Yangzhu, Zhang Zhiyuan, and Li Jiaying have been in orbit for over four months. Last week, while steadily advancing various space science experiments aboard the station and routinely carrying out combined body platform maintenance, they also completed payload entry and exit operations. The general-purpose extravehicular test device for components and assemblies that was taken outside the cabin this time includes test units such as the "hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber optic gyroscope," "advanced process devices," and "remote sensing target detection based on domestically produced AI chips," and is used to carry out experiments in the field of new space technologies and applications. With the support and cooperation of ground personnel, the crew completed the return to the cabin of the materials extravehicular exposure experiment device. Since this device was launched into orbit aboard the Tianzhou-5 cargo spacecraft on November 12, 2022, it has carried out three batches of exposure experiments covering a total of 16 projects, achieving multiple international firsts. At present, the fourth experiment is underway, covering 8 scientific research projects and 26 unit samples. Last week, various space science experiments in the cabin were carried out in an orderly manner, and the crew conducted mass perception and arm vibration experiment tests for the on-orbit tactile perception experiment project, studying the patterns of change in astronauts' tactile perception ability during spaceflight. They also completed emergency decision-making ability assessments and on-orbit emotional state tests, continuously accumulating test data. In terms of space station combined body platform maintenance, the crew replaced components inside the water-gas separation device of the regenerative life support system. In addition, the astronauts completed medical examinations such as 12-lead electrocardiograms and non-invasive cardiac function tests, and used equipment such as bone loss countermeasure devices and neuromuscular electrical stimulation devices to counteract the physiological effects of weightlessness.
