The issuance scale of panda bonds this year has exceeded 200 billion yuan, setting a new historical record.
Data shows that as of August 13, the issuance scale of panda bonds this year reached 202.475 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 73.57%. This figure also surpasses the annual totals of 183.56 billion yuan for 2025 and 194.8 billion yuan for 2024, setting a new historical high. "The booming trend in the panda bond market this year is the result of multiple favorable factors," said Yuan Shuai, Deputy Secretary-General of the Zhongguancun Internet of Things Industry Alliance. In recent years, regulatory authorities have continuously simplified the issuance process for panda bonds, lowering the thresholds and institutional costs for foreign issuers and encouraging more overseas institutions to enter the Chinese bond market. At the same time, compared to the high-interest rate environment in some developed economies, the financing costs in RMB have remained relatively reasonable over the long term, which can help reduce financing costs for foreign issuers and enhance the stability of their debt structure.
