After experiencing severe turbulence last Friday, the decline in the US bond market on Monday (June 8) was relatively moderate. News of a ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict during the European session briefly boosted buying of US bonds, but as the market entered the midday session in New York, selling pressure once again resurfaced. Overall, although the temporary easing of tensions in the Middle East has somewhat calmed the market, US bond yields remain high and investors are in a difficult position ahead of the crucial US CPI data release on Wednesday.
