Boris Vujcic, a member of the European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council, stated that as tensions escalate in the Iran conflict, the central bank must be "highly flexible and vigilant" in controlling prices. Vujcic, who will become the ECB vice president in June, said officials may soon be able to determine if the impact of the conflict requires an increase in interest rates. However, he also warned that recent developments indicate a rising risk of high consumer prices alongside weak economic growth. "We have not yet seen stagflation, but the risks are moving in that direction," the Croatian central bank governor said in an interview in Zagreb. "How far it will develop is difficult to predict."
